“Bread of Life”
Where are you getting fed?
Jesus tells his followers that he is the “bread of life” in John chapter 6. Jesus knew that the people around him were hungry. In 2022, very little has changed. This hunger is not a physical hunger or an emotional hunger. This hunger is a spiritual hunger: the hunger for fulfilment, the hunger for love, the hunger for righteousness, the hunger for peace, the hunger for forgiveness, the hunger for joy. People are hungry. The world looks to satisfy this hunger in all the wrong places: money, status, comfort, relationships, other people, and even sports. While none of those things are inherently bad, none of them will satisfy the hunger people experience in life.
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
- John 6:35
The only place this hunger can be satisfied is Jesus Christ. If you are searching for a place to satisfy your hunger, turn to Jesus and find the “bread of life.”
Once we have experienced the “bread of life” in Jesus, it is our job to bring this “bread” to those who are hungry around us because there is nothing more filling than Jesus Christ.
